Lucy Barnes

My husband and I moved to LBO in 1994, where we raised our children and became deeply invested in the community I am proud to call home. My husband previously served as Vice President of the HOA in the 1990's and became a certified pyrotechnic sharing that talent with our neighborhood by putting on a Fourth of July fireworks show for nearly two decades. What began as a gift to our community became a much anticipated neighborhood tradition and a highlight of the year, bringing residents together for an evening of celebration and fellowship.

I later had the opportunity to serve in the HOA board myself as Vice President and later as Chair of the neighborhood Beautification Team and would like to continue in that role.

My commitment to our community has extended beyond LBO. I have served as a member and VP of the People of Lockhart organization, where I continue to work on projects that enhance our community while also helping keep residents informed about important events and issues that impact us.

Professionally I spent over 35 years as a public servant within Orange County government criminal justice system. In addition I taught court ordered classes for nearly 20 years, designed to help individuals make positive choices in their lives.

I am submitting my name for consideration for the 2027 HOA board because LBO is more than just a place to live, it is the community where I raised my family along with my husband more than three decades serving others.

I have a vested interest in preserving the beauty of our neighborhood, maintaining a cohesive and friendly environment, and encouraging a community that promotes connection, pride and a healthy lifestyle for all residents.

I would be honored to continue serving the community I've called home for over 30 years .

Daniel Birket

I’m Daniel Birket, currently serving as president of our HOA. I didn’t seek this position but when it was thrust upon me, I resolved to do my best while several others quit. I would not accept the president’s hat again as it is a very stressful and time-consuming job with no reward and much criticism. If reelected to one of the 10 seats on the board from the unusual field of 13 candidates, I hope to serve in the quiet role of librarian, assisting the board by maintaining the association's records. Collecting and storing the records was my first task as president. We only had scattered files and papers before and could not produce legally required records. We filed the Association’s IRS tax forms for the first time ever, with the previous year’s taxes too. We wrote some policies that we were missing and required. I personally did the unwanted job of collecting late dues, knocking on doors and making calls instead of sending form letters. Being personal and nice worked too. I hope that you feel I served you well. — Daniel Birket

Angelo Intravaia

My name is Angelo Intravaia and I am running for 2027 HOA board. My wife Joy and I were one of the first residents in Lake Bosse. We had our house built in 1983. We raised 2 children here and I am so glad we chose one of the best neighborhoods in Orlando. I have lived in a few neighborhoods over my lifetime and this is, by far, the best. If I am elected to the board again, I will strive to keep it that way.

I served on the board on 2 separate occasions, as a board member and as President and Vice President for 5 years.

Garry Mott

I am Garry Mott, currently the association’s treasurer. I am a part-time substitute teacher of Deaf students in Orange and Seminole County schools, where I am also an award-winning volunteer. Through my private trust at Fidelity, I provide scholarships and other financial support for area Deaf students, as well as art scholarships in my hometown. I am a runner and have worn out dozens of shoes running around our area and competing in races from two miles to the marathon. This year I had the privilege of racing in Urayasu, Japan, as one of three delegates representing the City of Orlando and the Orlando Runners Club.

As an original homeowner of 42 years, I had the privilege of serving several terms as treasurer and vice president in the association’s early years. I also produced the original Lake Bosse Oaks newsletter free of charge for many years.

I believe volunteerism goes beyond holding an office. I purchased and had installed the large oak by the Rinn entrance, along with ten smaller ones that are now growing so quickly. When three neighbors each contributed toward one tree, I was touched. I believe things are best when we join together to do good. I have planted 16 trees in Lake Bosse Oaks that are not on my own property.

When I became treasurer this term, the association was not paying its income taxes. We had no insurance covering damage to our perimeter wall, and we were paying substantial amounts to contractors without knowing whether they were providing the services we were paying for. We lacked written agreements, insurance documentation, and required IRS documentation. With the board’s support, I have worked to correct these problems. The tax problem is being addressed in stages, and I will continue working with our tax professionals to reach a satisfactory resolution. I dread the arrival of a letter from the IRS, but when that letter comes, I want to be your treasurer so you can count on me to see it through.

I have organized the association’s bookkeeping using standard double-entry accounting, with records members (you) can inspect and review -- please do --I want you to be able to see where your money goes and understand the decisions behind our spending.

If re-elected to the board, I would like to continue serving as treasurer. My goals are better control over spending, lower assessments, and finding a responsible way to return excess accumulated funds to members, whether through credits, reduced assessments, or another appropriate method. We need enough money for our expenses and future needs, but I believe there should be a clear purpose for the money we keep.

You are welcome to ask questions or take a look at the books. Email me at treasurer@lakebosseoaks.org.

Lindsey Smestad

Hi neighbors! I’m Lindsey Smestad, and I’ve been proud to call our neighborhood home since July of 2017. I previously served on our Board of Directors and, during COVID, enjoyed helping our amazing events coordinator, Debi, keep our neighborhood connected through creative activities.

My commitment extends beyond our neighborhood. I served as President of the People of Lockhart for three years, advocating for our greater Lockhart community. Professionally, I’ve spent more than 20 years in public education, including serving as a school principal, and I currently work in leadership development.

I’m running for the 2027 Board because I genuinely care about our neighborhood and the people who live here. I believe in transparency, good communication, responsible spending, and preserving the standards that make our neighborhood a beautiful and desirable place to live.

For me, this neighborhood is more than a collection of houses. It’s the people, friendships, and sense of community that make it home. I’d be honored to serve my neighbors again in 2027.

Thank you, Lindsey Smestad

Debi Walter

My name is Debi Walter and my husband Tom and I have lived here for 34 years. We raised three children here and we have loved this neighborhood even before we called it home.

I am a writer and began the Lake Bosse Sun in 1999 as a way to help the HOA communicate clearly with the homeowners. I have also had the joy of heading up and organizing our annual events. It’s no secret that I love doing this, and getting to know our amazing neighbors.

I am running the first time for the BOD, as I see a need for all of us to take our turn serving in this way. Our Neighborhood has long been sought after by new home owners, and this has been because of our commitment to keep our homes and landscape beautiful.

I am grateful for your consideration to serve on the board in 2026. My desire is to promote a healthy community spirit where we are more than neighbors; we are friends.

God bless,
